Ecclesia Austin Church Plant

Mid-Cities has partnered with Greg and Suzi Bobbitt to plant a new church in Austin, Texas. In 2007, the Bobbitt family along with several other families moved to Austin to start Ecclesia Austin (hyperlink). They have now launched the church publicly! They meet in Small Middle School in Southwest Austin and are doing five “preview” services during the summer. They will start meeting weekly in October of 2009.

One way that Mid-Cities is partnering with Ecclesia is through our Austin mission trips. The purpose of these weekend trips are to assist pastor Greg Bobbitt and Ecclesia Austin with five “preview” services. These services are designed to let newcomers know what the church is going to be like when it launches. The dates of the trips are:

May 1-3

Open to families, singles, and college students. Specifically promoted with college students and young professionals

June 6-7

Open to families, singles, and college students. Life Groups are encouraged to go on this mission trip together.

July 11-12

Open to anyone, but specifically promoted with the Singles Ministry

August 7-9

Family Focus Trip
This weekend will be specifically designed for families to go on a mission trip together. This will be a longer trip with a family friendly schedule. There will also be a fun family outreach event. There is a special cost associated with this trip (see below).

September 12-13

Open to anyone. There are a limited number of spots available for this trip.

Goal:

Our main goal is to make each preview service the best that it can be. We will do this by:
1. Inviting people to church by handing out flyers
2. Prayer
3. Being present for the Sunday morning service. This doesn’t seem like much, but it is very important for there to be a crowd at these meetings.
4. Assisting on Sunday morning by providing a worship team, childcare workers, people to help set up, and anything else they may need.

Cost:

$80 per person
$150 per couple/family

Cost Includes -
1 Night at a La Quinta Hotel (w/Free Continental Breakfast)
Team Dinner on Saturday Night

Cost Does Not Include -
Travel Expenses (we will carpool to Austin)
All Other Meals
Souvenirs, Shopping, etc.

Family Focus Trip

$140 per person
$265 per couple/family

Cost Includes -
2 Nights at a La Quinta Hotel (w/Free Continental Breakfast)
Team Dinner on Saturday Night

Cost Does Not Include -
Travel Expenses (we will carpool to Austin)
All Other Meals
Souvenirs, Shopping, etc.
